I know what that tastes like...
Can you hear it?
Welling up in you like a warm summer wind full of new cut grass and fresh baked bread.
When you see that child with the corn dog - dripping with red and yellow - you can recall the taste of the mouthful - the sweetness of the breading and the tang of ketchup. The music playing in the background accompanied by the laughter of children, the special rattle of a roller coaster, the cacophony of sound that is so special to the arcade of the fairgrounds and carnivals.
You can add in the special sweet spiral of spun sugar - in it's robins egg blue and princess dress pink.
Can you feel it ?
The full blown boom and crash of the ocean as you hold that long lost seashell to your ear.
That special wind - bringing the taste of salt and sun and sunscreen.
The call of gulls - or just the lap of water on sand.
The caress of water as you slip beneath the waves in search of treasures of nature.
Pieces of shells & sea urchins.
Fish the colors of the rainbow - or subdued to the point of disappearing when they turn just a fins width away from you.
Turtles sleeping - wedged within the crevasse of coral and sand.
That long undulating call of whales beneath the waves.
Taking you back to a simpler time before death came to claim a piece of yourself.
Ah there they are ...
Those forgotten snippets of memory - showing up in the unexpected way that memories have.
Cavorting to the foreground of our mind from behind the forgotten corners.
Sweeping aside time and space as if they were things of gossamer - for that is what it is.
Time and space is made of finer things then gossamer - it's fragile and strong - tied together with the same silken fluff of space and stardust.
