You don't have to share the path
To share the journey.
But your paths must have bridges of connection to remain in relationship.

Note this means that it's WORK to be in relationship. 
For how can it be REAL if there is no work?  

It is also OK to say "I'm no longer taking this path - our journey has reached an impass - a point of passivitiy - a place where it's time to walk our paths journey alone for awhile.   it's OK to say I love you, but no longer see you in my journey.  It's OK to refuse to be dragged along on someone elses journey 'just because'.
